For your first day on a new codebase

Understand any codebase in five minutes

Paste a GitHub repository. Day 1 reads it and makes a short slide deck that explains what the code does, how it's organized and where to start.

A real deck Day 1 made for sindresorhus/ky.

How it works

  1. 1

    It reads the repository

The file tree, the README and a handful of key files. Never the whole codebase, and only public repositories.

  2. 2

    It writes a short deck

Plain-English slides: what the project does, how it's organized, what to read first and how to run it.

  3. 3

    You present or share it

Arrow keys, a presenter view with notes and a timer, a share link, a PDF or a Markdown file.

No accounts, and nothing stored on our servers. Your decks are saved in this browser, and a share link carries the whole deck inside it.
